Well we have had a whirlwind four weeks! After finding out that there is a new member of our family well on his or her way into the world, we decided we need a bit more space for this rapidly expanding household. In three days we looked at every "for sale" house we were interested in our neighborhood, found one, put a bid on it and the following day, Jaden and I headed to Texas to be with family.
Texas was full of emotion; we prayed, watched, waited, laughed and grieved while God took "our Carlos" home to be with Him, we celebrated Jay and Fredrik's US wedding (remember we did the "germany wedding" in April), the contract on the house fell through so we placed another one on another house, Joel came and joined us twice, once for a wedding and once for a funeral, we took our family portrait with Kim in Austin...these are just the highlights.
Jaden, Joel and I all returned together to Memphis on saturday. We're glad to be back, Jaden most of all, but thankful for the sweet time we had with family and friends for three weeks. A wedding is always a joy, but when it's your sister-in-law's, it is uniquely beautiful to be a part of. A funeral is never something we'd plan or hope for, however, while grieving the loss of a very loved and special man, it is amazing to see how beautifully life is highlighted in death. It is a joy to know that while it was Carlos's time to exit this world, the Lord has chosen to enter two precious ones whom he would have (and surely already does) LOVED: baby Labatt and baby Harris, they will always - in small part - remind us of Carlos's life...if any of his spirit is with them through their life we'll hold on to our hats for an interesting ride. I can't wait to tell these babies about him.
We are OH so thankful for time spent with all grandparents, they were such great playmates, babysitters and love-givers!
On monday we closed on our new home, feeling very blessed that all the details went so smoothly at a time that was anything but smooth other wise.
We are now busy packing, picking paint colors, getting our special "first home" ready to sell and trying to rest in between.
